Ad Type Primer: What is the difference between the advanced ads and a solo ad?
Question:
I have been doing the promo codes and I need to send a solo ad. What is the difference between the advanced ads and a solo ad. Can you help Please explain and I would also like to finish the clickbank stuff.
 
Answer:
 
You can send ANY ad in the Ad Examples, or Advanced Ads as a SOLO ad.

A solo ad, from a safelist perspective, is an ad that is sent to the whole membership.  For safelists that differentiate between a CONTACT Email ID, and a LIST Email ID, the Solo goes to only CONTACT Email ID of each member.   These typically have higher point values, and a certain prestige for being shown to the recipient's CONTACT Id.  

The List Id is where the run-of-the-mill tons of ads go.  I like to think of these as the fodder for point scrapers.  List ID's are rarely OPENED except by robots.  and there is substantially lower odds of those ads being READ and CLICKED.

A SOLO ad, from the paid ad perspective, is one that is sent to the whole list, or sent until the ad tracker registers a specified number of clicks.

So, if you have a PROMO code, it is most likely from a safelist, ad it would go to the total membership of that safelist.  Most of the newer safelist scripts only require one email address, so that ID effectively is the CONTACT and LIST ID.

You can find out how many members are registered to that safelist on the front page of a safelist (the one that you see that has the LOGIN prompt (not the login and password entry fields).  It usually breaks down how many total members, JV members, and SJV members.  In all likelihood, you have a greater chance of having your email opened by JV and SJV members - they get greater point rewards for opening ads.  

From my experience, as an admin of 4 safelists, Pro (free) members just show up to steal everything they can for free, they do not contribute to the "advertising community", they don't actually click anything except to get the points.

I grant you, there is a lot of repetition in ads, I find so many "gems", that is, great promo deals for upgrades that include tons of SuperNetwork ads.  

The difference between a normal SOLO ad and a SUPERNETWORK SOLO Ad, the SuperNetwork ads go to tens of thousands of safelist members.  You can generally see the member counts, and the different sites on the ADVERTISE HERE pages.  So a SuperNetwork Ad is still a Contact Solo ad on steroids. but keep in mind that you should expect the same CTR's (Click Thru Rates) as any other safelist SOLO ad.
 
When I select safelists, I also look at the MIX of SuperNetwork ads.  Many of the SuperNetworks have many sites that are focused on a specific geographical area or demographic.  I want a mix to get the broadest number of views from varying audiences.

My choice for ads:
1. Paid SOLO ad
2. SuperNetwork SOLO
3. Safelist SOLO ad

From a strategy standpoint, you want to have a MIX of all ad types.  Heavy on the Paid Solos and SuperNetwork Solos, meaning you should choose more carefully for these types.

You should NOT ignore the ad types with lower CTR's like:
  • Credit mail or System mail (limited by the number of points your membership level allows and points available
  • Onsite Ads:
    • Login Ads
    • Surf Ads
    • Solo Footer and Header Ads
    • Featured Ads
    • Top and Bottom Nav Links
    • Banners and Buttons 
    • Traffic Links and Hot Links
    • HTML and Text Ads
I actually prefer SURF SITES.  Why?  The ad must be viewed for a certain number of seconds before points are rewarded.  I also look for site that have "cheat controls", meaning a human being must match numbers or graphics.  They have higher CTR's than normal safelists.
 
The "Hoopla" sites give a great review and ranking of sites.  They are not cheap, but you are sure you will be getting the highest ranked and rated sites.
 
Confused?  Now you know why so many newbies are clueless and simply flounder around.
